The Interactive Media Publishing programme cultivates visionary leaders prepared to drive the publishing industry's transformation. By strategically integrating interactive media technologies with core publishing principles, students develop a comprehensive skill set encompassing media technology mastery, content management, publishing quality control, and user experience design. They further acquire advanced capabilities in digital marketing, gamification, copyright & IP development, transmedia franchise, sustainable publishing practices, positioning them to lead a responsible and competitive future.
 
This programme is dedicated to revitalising the esteemed roles of printing and publishing while facilitating their digital evolution and envisioning groundbreaking advancements. It will harness the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart analytics to optimise both printing and e-publishing, utilising artificial intelligence (AI) to create personalised e-publications, and forge vital connections with the publishing industry in the Greater Bay Area and across the international landscape.

The Interactive Media Publishing programme offers a transdisciplinary and comprehensive curriculum, providing students with specialized courses across multiple disciplines. Students have access to a broad selection of elective courses offered by the School of Communication, the School of Creative Arts, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the School of Business to enrich their learning experience.

A distinctive feature of the curriculum is the emphasis on managing engaging digital content and incorporating immersive experiences into publishing through extended-reality (XR) technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). Furthermore, it will equip students with digital marketing, branding, entrepreneurship and sustainability strategies, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the industry's evolving demands.

We collaborate extensively with a diverse network of local and international industry partners, academic institutions, and universities to offer our students invaluable real-world experiences. These opportunities include internships, exchange programmes, and service-learning projects, allowing students to apply their skills in interactive media publishing in practical, professional environments. Additionally, we organise overseas study tours for our senior students, featuring visits to leading publishing houses, digital media firms, and academic institutions, providing them with global exposure and insights into the evolving landscape of interactive media and publishing.

Career prospects for graduates include digital content strategist, multimedia producer, e-publishing specialist, user experience (UX) designer, creative professional in digital media such as online publishing, digital marketing, and interactive platforms, and content manager in industries such as advertising, branding, online communication, and digital publishing.


Programme Entrance Requirements
 

For the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Interactive Media Publishing programme, it is recommended that applicants submit a 1-page letter of intent and a portfolio.

  • 1-page letter of intent: the letter of intent should be written in English, include a brief self-introduction, relevant experience, and your passion for interactive media publishing, among other insights; and
     
  • Porfolio: applicants should clearly declare the originality of the included projects and ensure it is prepared in digital format and limited to fewer than 10 pages for efficient presentation, highlighting their potential in areas such as creativity/multimedia storytelling/visual design/user experience design/media project management/digital literacy, etc.
