Students can graduate without any concentration or with one or two concentration(s) according to their interest and career goal.

    6) BSc(Hons) in Green Energy and Smart Technology

The aim of the programme is to nurture young professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to develop and implement green and smart technology-driven approaches for a career in the rapidly expanding sector of smart and net-zero carbon city development.

This programme provides training in green energy science and smart technology, such as green energy generation, smart energy storage and distribution, smart control systems and IoT, carbon audit, energy audit and energy management. In addition to in-class learning and projects, students have experiential learning opportunities, such as internship and overseas study exchange. Courses are also available to help students to prepare for professional certification examinations.

Students graduating from this programme are well equipped and highly competitive for careers as green energy and smart technology professionals, e.g., in energy audit and consulting, energy/utility companies, green/smart building design and management, smart transportation and energy conservation. The basic science training also prepares students for further studies in science and engineering, or careers in technology innovation.

The University envisions the importance of transdisciplinary innovations in response to the global challenges and offers a flexible curriculum structure that is much more agile and fits the present and yet-to-known future needs. Students of designated programmes will have the opportunity to opt for a transdisciplinary second major (TSM) / second major (SM) on top of their major. TSMs are geared for particular talent needs in Hong Kong and prepare students to pool knowledge from disciplines to excel in multiple careers, whereas SMs prepare students to gain in-depth knowledge from another discipline to complement the first major. This approach equips students not only for their careers, but also the future development of their respective fields. Seven TSMs and two SMs are currently launched. Please click here for more details.

The Faculty of Science and Technology is committed to nurturing students into well-rounded global citizens, capable of initiating and acting upon ideas, both on campus and beyond.

Faculty launched the Personal, Academic & Professional Development Programme (PAP), designed exclusively for science and Technology students. This initiative provides a unique opportunity for academic excellence and prepares students for successful career in the scientific domain. Through a comprehensive curriculum and tailored support, PAP aims to equip young talents, foster innovation and cultivate the scientific leaders for tomorrow.

Our graduates' employment rate is 98% in the past 5 years, inclusive of 21% further studies. Most of our graduates landed jobs in sectors such as Commerce / Industry, Government and Education, etc.

Some graduates opt for further studies after completing their undergraduate studies which often enables them to secure jobs of better pay and brighter prospect, including taking up faculty positions in universities.

During my internship at HSBC Life, I applied my skills in mathematics and statistics to solve real-world insurance challenges.  I contributed to projects that enhanced the company’s financial resilience against extreme events, such as market crashes and pandemics.  Although the role emphasized practical implementation over theoretical mathematics, it deepened my appreciation for how quantitative methods drive business decisions within the insurance industry.

The exchange programme at San Jose State University, USA proved to be a journey in every sense of the word.  Academically, I explored new subjects like Film and Nutrition, earning A-range grades while discovering surprising connections back to my core interest in chemistry.  Beyond the classroom, I traveled over 10,000 miles across the US, learning practical skills like budgeting, car maintenance, and real-world resilience. Living with diverse housemates also honed my adaptability and cultural awareness.  I emerged from this experience with heightened confidence, profound self-reliance, and the global perspective needed to navigate complex challenges.

In Denmark, my classroom was the world. In the University of Southern Denmark, I thrived with a new curriculum and engaging teaching styles. Outside of it, my travels taught me real-world lessons in budgeting and navigation.  Every new country and conversation offered a masterclass in culture, nature, and human connection. It was the most holistic education I could have asked for.
