Programme Description
The Interactive Media Publishing programme aspires to cultivate visionary leaders equipped with the knowledge to drive transformative development in the printing and publishing industry, paving the way toward a sustainable and competitive future. By seamlessly integrating interactive media technology with traditional printing and publishing practices, students will acquire a robust skill set, including expertise in printing technology, publishing quality control, and multimedia design. They will also develop cutting-edge capabilities in digital marketing, content creation (such as digital storytelling), cross-platform content management, and sustainable practices.
This programme is dedicated to revitalizing the esteemed roles of printing and publishing while facilitating their digital evolution and envisioning groundbreaking advancements. It will harness the power of the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart analytics to optimize both printing and e-publishing, utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) to create personalized e-publications, and forge vital connections with the publishing industry in the Greater Bay Area and across the international landscape.
Unique Features
The Interactive Media Publishing programme offers a transdisciplinary and comprehensive curriculum, providing students with specialized courses across multiple disciplines. Students have access to a broad selection of elective courses offered by the School of Communication, the School of Creative Arts, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, and the School of Business to enrich their learning experience.
A distinctive feature of the curriculum is the emphasis on creating engaging digital content and incorporating immersive experiences into printing and publishing through extended reality technologies, including augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). Furthermore, it will equip students in digital marketing, advertising, branding, and sustainability strategies within the printing industry, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the industry’s evolving demands.
Student Learning Experiences
We collaborate extensively with a diverse network of local and international industry partners, academic institutions, and universities to offer our students invaluable real-world experiences. These opportunities include internships, exchange programmes, and service-learning projects, allowing students to apply their skills in interactive media publishing in practical, professional environments. Additionally, we organize overseas study tours for our senior students, featuring visits to leading publishing houses, digital media firms, and academic institutions, providing them with global exposure and insights into the evolving landscape of interactive media and publishing.
Career Opportunities
Career prospects for graduates include digital content strategist, multimedia producer, e-publishing specialist, user experience (UX) designer, creative professional in digital media such as online publishing, digital marketing, and interactive platforms, and content manager in industries such as advertising, branding, online communication, and digital publishing.
