Programme Description
The Game Design and Animation Major offers a coherent curriculum with emphasis on both game design and computer animation. The holistic learning experience will equip students for a wide range of career opportunities in digital entertainment, arts and culture, as well as to prepare them for more advanced study. The curriculum comprises fundamental courses in game design and animation; from drawing and animating for storytelling to coding, programming and mathematical concepts behind them, as well as social and historical studies of game design and animation. Moreover, students can further develop their expertise in senior years through specialisation in either Advanced Game Design Stream or Advanced Animation Stream to deepen their knowledge and skills for the preparation of their Final Year Honours Projects.

The programme provides a unique professional education in game design and animation with a broad elective study through a comprehensive list of courses offered by Department of Interactive Media, Department of History, Department of Music, and the Academy of Film to enrich students' liberal arts education learning experience.

Career prospects for graduates include game designer, game programmer, animator, creative professional in digital media such as TV, film, and social media, and content creator in industries such as advertising, branding, online communication, and visual design.

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Final Year Students/ Holders
AD/ HD holders or final year students may apply for Year 1 or Year 3 entry.
Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Non-final Year Students
Non-final year students studying AD/ HD programmes at a higher education institution recognised by the University are eligible to apply for Year 1 entry only. These applicants are required to fulfill the Entrance Requirements for HKDSE or equivalent qualifications.
Transfer Students
Transfer students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree programmes at a local or non-local university may apply.
Please note that according to the guidelines of the University Grants Committee (UGC) on inter-institutional transfer of students, repeating of UGC-funded undergraduate study across institutions, irrespective of whether there is a change of programme or discipline, is generally discouraged unless under very exceptional circumstances.
