Programme Description

The general aim of the programme is to prepare students for a career in computer science or information technology related areas. Students will be equipped to work in the Information & Communication Technology industry or to pursue postgraduate study. This programme stresses on innovations in computing technologies and information systems, and their applications to real-world problems. It consists of four concentrations of study:

  • Computing and Software Technologies (CST) Concentration
  • Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) Concentration
  • Data and Media Communication (DMC) Concentration
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) Concentration

The Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) Concentration emphasizes on key concepts and best practices related to information systems design and integration, as well as information analytics for creative applications in organizations and enterprises.


Unique Features

  • The ISA concentrations has been granted full accreditation by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers.
  • The DMC concentration is co-offered by the Department of Journalism under the School of Communication.
  • Students may choose double ISA+DMC concentration if their study schedules are feasible.


Student Learning Experiences

Students are able to gain IT work experience training through summer internship and 1-year placement opportunities. Also, the programme offers diversified overseas outreach opportunities for students such as study tours, overseas internship, overseas summer research programme and overseas study exchange.

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Students/ Holders

Local final year students or graduates of an Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma programme at an institution recognised by the University are eligible for publicly-funded senior year places.

 

Transfer Students

Transfer students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree programmes at a local or non-local university may apply. 

Please note that according to the guidelines of the University Grants Committee (UGC) on inter-institutional transfer of students, repeating of UGC-funded undergraduate study across institutions, irrespective of whether there is a change of programme or discipline, is generally discouraged unless under very exceptional circumstances.
