Programme Description

The Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) Programme (Finance Concentration) equips students with knowledge pivotal to making sound investment and financing decisions. The curriculum emphasises the functional areas of the finance profession: investment management, derivatives and risk management, fixed-income securities management corporate finance and Fintech.

 

Unique Features

  • The Finance Concentration sharpens students’ quantitative and analytical skill to make pertinent financial and investment decisions taking into account the global environment and to develop careers in banking, finance, marketing, accounting or general management.
  • Students in the Finance Concentration can join Hong Kong’s first real-money Investment Club run by students to put theories into practice through investing in the stock market.
  • The Concentration provides students with solid finance foundation to pursue professional qualifications as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) Banking Certificate examination, the Hong Kong Securities Institute Licensing examination for Securities and Futures Intermediates (LE) and the Mandatory Provident Fund Intermediaries examination.
  • Students can pursue additional graduation options including Double Concentration within BBA, or a Minor in non-business discipline.


Student Learning Experiences

  • All BBA students are required to complete at least 120 hours of experiential learning activities (exchange/internship/service learning) before graduation.
  • All BBA students must have completed 20 hours of courses on LinkedIn Learning platform during their studies at HKBU to be qualified for graduation.

Graduates can develop careers in banking, finance, marketing/sales and management.

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Students/ Holders

Local final year students or graduates of an Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma programme at an institution recognised by the University are eligible for publicly-funded senior year places.

 

Transfer Students

Transfer students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree programmes at a local or non-local university may apply. 

Please note that according to the guidelines of the University Grants Committee (UGC) on inter-institutional transfer of students, repeating of UGC-funded undergraduate study across institutions, irrespective of whether there is a change of programme or discipline, is generally discouraged unless under very exceptional circumstances.
