The Game Design and Animation major provides a holistic education that blends media arts theory and practice, with a focus on game design and digital animation. The programme prepares students for a wide range of career opportunities in digital entertainment, arts, and culture, and provides the foundational knowledge for advanced study.
Core courses include life drawing, animation principles, visual storytelling, programming, mathematical concepts of computer graphics, generative AI, and the social, cultural, and historical studies of the medium. In their senior years, students can specialise in either the Advanced Game Design or Advanced Animation stream, which culminates in an in-depth honors project in their final year.
The programme provides a unique professional education in game design and animation with a broad elective study through a comprehensive list of courses offered by Department of Interactive Media, Department of History, Department of Music, and the Academy of Film to enrich students’ liberal arts education learning experience.
We work closely with various local and international industry partners, institutions, and universities to provide real-world experiences for our students through service learning, collaborative projects, industry seminars, etc. In addition, we coordinate overseas study tours for our senior year students with visits to animation/game design festivals, schools and studios.
Career prospects for graduates include game designer, game programmer, animator, creative professional in digital media such as TV, film, and social media, and content creator in industries such as advertising, branding, online communication, and visual design.
