The general aim of the programme is to prepare students for a career in computer science or information technology related areas. Students will be equipped to work in the Information & Communication Technology industry or to pursue postgraduate study. This programme stresses on innovations in computing technologies and information systems, and their applications to real-world problems. It consists of four concentrations of study:
- Computing and Software Technologies (CST) Concentration
- Information Systems and Analytics (ISA) Concentration
- Data and Media Communication (DMC) Concentration
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) Concentraion
The AI concentration is designed to provide students with a working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML) to participate in AI-related projects using computational methods.
- Core courses of the AI concentration contain AI development, recommender systems, natural language processing and computer vision.
- The DMC concentration is co-offered by the Department of Journalism under the School of Communication.
- Students may choose double AI+DMC concentration if their study schedules are feasible.
Students are able to gain IT work experience training through summer internship and 1-year placement opportunities. Also, the programme offers diversified overseas outreach opportunities for students such as study tours, overseas internship, overseas summer research programme and overseas study exchange.
