Programme Description

The Accounting Concentration provides a balance of breadth and depth in the discipline, with a view of producing accountants with a much-needed analytical and conceptual mind. Accountants are always in strong demand in the business world, and this Concentration is carefully designed to provide students not just with training in accounting, but with multi-disciplinary knowledge, analytical ability, information processing proficiency, communication skills, and a sound liberal education for them to excel in the accounting profession and other business fields.

  • A special programme of summer classes is available to allow BBA (ACCT) students to join full-time semester-long spring internships with Big4s and other well-known CPA firms, or overseas exchanges without having to delay their graduation.
  • Plentiful scholarship awards that are exclusively available to BBA (ACCT) students only.
  • Additional graduation options include a Double Concentration within the BBA, or a Minor in a non-business discipline.

 

Student Learning Experiences

  • All BBA students are required to complete at least 120 hours of experiential learning activities (exchange/internship/service learning) before graduation.

Graduates can develop careers in professional accounting firms and in government, commercial and industrial sectors.

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Students/ Holders

Local final year students or graduates of an Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma programme at an institution recognised by the University are eligible for publicly-funded senior year places.

 

Transfer Students

Transfer students who are currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree or higher degree programmes at a local or non-local university may apply. 

Please note that according to the guidelines of the University Grants Committee (UGC) on inter-institutional transfer of students, repeating of UGC-funded undergraduate study across institutions, irrespective of whether there is a change of programme or discipline, is generally discouraged unless under very exceptional circumstances.
