The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Hons) in China Studies - Geography Concentration primarily introduces students to the rapidly expanding horizons of the geography and the study of China from a geographical perspective. The curriculum enables students to analyze in-depth the complexities of the geography of contemporary China. Specifically, the Programme aims at providing students with a solid foundation of the theories and methodologies of the geography discipline, a sound knowledge of contemporary China, particularly in the understanding of its geographical assets and liabilities, the ability to use geographical tools to conduct independent research, and proficiency in Chinese, especially Putonghua and English.
While students primarily develop a specialization in the geography discipline with an area focus on China, they are also provided opportunities to develop historical, social and economic perspectives about contemporary China. The five-week Summer Sojourn Programme at Tsinghua University in Beijing at the end of the third year provides students not only intensive training in Putonghua and first-hand experience of living in Mainland China, but also exposures to cutting- edge scholarship on spatial, social and economic development issues of China.

The Programme attaches great importance to student learning experiences and strives to provide students a wide range of opportunities for exposures and practical training. With a broad spectrum of learning experiences especially field studies in China and hands-on training, graduates of this Programme are well-prepared for career development especially China related careers and able to enjoy great flexibility in taking a wide range of roles in different professions.
Diverse employment opportunities are available for the graduates such as Commerce/finance, teaching/research, civil service, the media, tourism, administration/management, community/social services, and non-governmental organizations. Specifically, graduates have the potential for careers in China-related business and other endeavours, and for graduate studies in Geography, China studies and cognate fields.
1) Students may have the option of taking an integrated programme by extending their undergraduate study by one year, leading to the award of a bachelor's degree in that Major plus a Diploma in Education.

Associate Degree/ Higher Diploma Students/ Holders
AD/ HD holders or students studying in the final year of AD /HD programmes may apply for Year 3 entry.
Transfer students are current students of recognised local/ overseas institutions who are enrolled in a full-time or sandwich government-funded or self-financed degree programme.
Applicants who have completed at least one year of study of a 3-year degree programme or two years of study of a 4-year degree programme may apply for Year 3 entry.
Inter-institutional transfer of students is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Holders of Bachelor’s/ Master’s/ Doctoral Degree or students studying in the final year of a degree programme may apply for Year 3 entry.
